Whitechapel is
about inclusion showing people that have been excluded, that they have
value that there are people that care and want them around.
- To provide a warm, friendly &
non-judgemental environment for users;
- To provide a safe, conducive and congenial
environment for Volunteers
- To feel valued and to provide a platform
where the broad diversity of background,
skills/abilities and experiences
can be positively channelled;
- To provide Christian witness and outreach
through love
- And to provide education, customised to
the individual need
The first
steps towards rebuilding a life is to persuade the individual that it is worth
rebuilding. Words can only go so far
We open our doors at 6am - seven days a week,
including all bank holidays, Christmas and Easter - Its about
stability!
First we meet basic needs by offering: a hot breakfast -
showers - laundry - clothing - pastoral care - befriending - hairdressing -
chiropodist - optician

and offer advice and assistance with:
night shelters
- hostels - benefits - identification documents - form filling - debt
counselling - entitlements - finding appropriate help
And then to build
upon this stability, we offer the life
skills needed to rebuild a life and sustain a residency to offer
basic numeracy and literacy

We
are not open just for Christmas! We are not open just weekdays! We don't forget
about the homeless because the banks want to declare a holiday, and we have
staff living onsite to ensure that we are there when we are
needed.
