Whitechapel Team Challenge Days
We want volunteering at Whitechapel to
be fun, rewarding and challenging. The skills, opinions and experiences of each
volunteer are valued and we want to them to be an integral part of the
organisation.
The Whitechapel Mission began 130 years ago and much of
our work would never have been possible without the support of thousands of
volunteers. Today, volunteers play a crucial role, working with homeless
people, providing essential administrative support or raising much-needed
funds.
If you have an interest in getting people in your organisation to
work more effectively as a team, would like an icebreaker to integrate new
members into your group or would just like to organise a fun day out, then the
Whitechapel Team Challenge experience could be just what you are looking for.
The Whitechapel Team Challenge offers an unusual and cost-effective
alternative to the myriad of outdoor 'corporate training' days now on offer.
Your employees will join regular Whitechapel staff - making a real difference
for some of London's homeless while working as a team and having
fun.

Whitechapel Team Challenge
Two
Clothing Store
Our second challenge is to assist us with sorting, measuring of the
mountains of clothes donated to the Mission.
We
offer the largest clothing store in London available to the homeless. To keep
this clothing store running requires many hours of sorting and measuring. All
clothes need to be checked for functionality, style and wearability. (trousers
need zips, shirts need buttons).
About 33% of the clothing donated to
the Mission never makes it to the shelves. Most of that waste will need to be
re-sacked and stored ready for collection by the ragman
 Volunteers from Delta PLC |
The
clothing we do keep now has to be carefully measured and tagged with the sizes.
It is now ready to be placed in storage racks, shelves or hung on hangers ready
for distribution.
We
challenge volunteer groups to help us sort clothing to be given to the
homeless. We need groups of between 6 and 16 in number, that can give one day
to the Mission.
At this time of year, it is starting to turn colder and
many of the nights are wet. Clean, dry clothes are an essential part of
survival. |
