  Whitechapel Mission Ambassadors

Do you admire the work of The Whitechapel Mission? Would you like the opportunity to represent the Whitechapel Mission in public?


What is involved?
The role varies according to location and is flexible to take account of what you are happy to and/or are able to do; so you could be involved in all, or just some of, the following activities:


  • co-ordinating public collections
  • giving presentations (to community organisations and schools)
  • recruiting supporters and volunteers for The Whitechapel Mission
  • collecting funds on behalf of The Whitechapel Mission
  • providing general support to The Whitechapel Mission when requested
  • attending cheque presentations or local events on behalf of The Whitechapel Mission and officially thanking donors and hosts for their support
  • identifying and developing potential fundraising opportunities within local groups

What's required?
You should:


  • be a good communicator with interest/experience in public speaking
  • be outgoing, and have a likeable personality
  • have the ability to use your own initiative and work unsupervised
  • be prepared to learn about local groups
  • adhere to The Whitechapel Mission's volunteer policy
  • be able to travel to different events and locations.

What are the goals?


  • To increase awareness and knowledge of The Whitechapel Mission through your activities.

How much time is involved?
As much time as you can spare! It is vital that you are enthusiastic and willing to get involved and become part of the team.


Where will I be based?
In your local community and surrounding area.

What training can I expect in this role?
When you start volunteering with us, you'll receive a Whitechapel Mission information pack and an induction which will tell you all about The Whitechapel Mission and what we do.


What support/guidance will I get?
As a volunteer for The Whitechapel Mission, you will be fully supported by The Whitechapel Mission team and our volunteer co-ordinator. You'll also have the opportunity to meet and network with staff and fellow volunteers, and we'll provide you with information about how you can become involved with the Whitechapel Mission in other ways should you wish to.


Expenses
We refund volunteers' "out-of-pocket" expenses within agreed guidelines.
